Speaking of the relationship between Lee and his uncle, there is one scene, that I find very telling and interesting, because it shows the Colonels real feelings for his nephew so well and nicely.

Look closely at those:

In the first picture the Colonel almost touches Lee's hand, as if he wants to make a connection to him, in the second picture he touches Lee's knee in a way, well how do you describe it? It is an uncle's or even fatherly kind of way, isn't it? He is worried about Lee and at the same time give him reassurance.

I like this scene very much, because both men don't seem to realize how close they are at that special moment.
